My body picked up a respiratory viral infection. (Not Covid).

My sinuses and eyes were extremely congested. My eyes were blood shot with puffy lids. And I had a very deep constant cough. My tongue was yellow coated. I could never sleep and rest at night due to the coughing and need to blow my nose. Daytime was not much better. Because this condition went on for over a week, I contacted Dr. Ming Wu. He told me it was heat, and because there were no herbal pharmacies in my area to try a drink of orange peel and Asian pear.

We cut up and boiled the peel of one orange along with one Asian pear in a double boiler with 16 oz. of water. We let the mixture boil for about 30 minutes. This yielded about 12 oz. of drink. We used this same fruit mixture and boiled it together again for a total of 3 times. (Note: I would squeeze the juice of the orange and include it, to cut the bitterness of the peel, but you don’t need to do this. The peel is the remedy).

After drinking for the first day there was a noticeable improvement in my health. I was able to sleep undisturbed through the night. And upon awakening the next morning my eyes weren’t as red and swollen. And the phlegm began to release from my chest. After three days I was greatly improved. I no longer had red swollen eyes and no longer had the incessant cough and congestion.

Thank you, Dr. Wu.

Sincerely,
Michele Vinson

"Fifteen years ago, I was told that I had a chronic illness that may or may not resolve itself. I vowed to fight. Despite my efforts, my symptoms became worse and others were added. Much of what I loved to do became difficult or impossible. I searched hard to find joy and alternatives to what I lost and was losing. My search for hope led me to a Qigong class offered at the Steinberg Wellness Center for Mind and Body. Today I practice Qigong daily and continue to attend my Wednesday class with Dr. Ming Wu. This practice has changed my life. My stamina, strength, balance and mental outlook have improved to the point that my life, although different, is rich and rewarding. I still have the chronic illness. The difference is I now have more tools to manage it and live with it. Qigong is one of the primary tools that has affected my life dramatically, and that has been nothing but positive. I owe this to Dr. Wu and the Wellness Center."

I started to learn Tai Chi with Dr. Wu about 4 months ago. It has become my new passion. I practice Tai Chi on my own every day and on Saturdays, I practice with several fellow Tai Chi practitioners.

For me, the benefits of practicing Tai Chi are on many levels. First, on the body level, I noticed that practicing Tai Chi helped healing my body. I have had some ache and pain at the lower back/hip area for many years. When I practice Tai Chi, I can feel that that area is getting the stretch and movement it needed to clear the blockages. My lower back/hip has significantly improved. After practicing a set of complete form of Fengyang Tai Chi, my hip and knees feel more flexible and more open.

Second, Tai Chi has helped with my practice as a Tui Na practitioner. Practicing Tai Chi is to learn how to better use your body. It helped me realize what Dr. Wu has been teaching us about Wu Wei, the effortless power. For example, when I stand using the bow stance from Tai Chi while doing Tui Na, I noticed that when I let the power coming from the feet, I am using much less effort. However, the energy actually goes deeper for better healing.

Last but not least, Tai Chi to me is also a spiritual practice. Tai Chi is meditation in motion. When I practice Tai Chi, I become the observer. I watch my body flow with the Chi. I feel a sense of internal joy when my body moves in harmony with Chi.

Even though I am only a beginner in Tai Chi practice, from what I have experienced, I believe Tai Chi is a great way to improve our whole being on all levels, body, mind and spirit.

Thank you, Dr. Wu, for your guidance on this wonderful journey of Tai Chi!
